CyNAV aboard?
Introduction
CyNAV is the 21th century cyberspace navigation app for pilots on your J2ME phone (Android edition expected arriving soon) to improve your flights, make them easier to handle and to add a lot more safety at your fingertips.
Remarks: CyNAV is not a toy, but a serious tool what can save life. We expect that you, our reader, as a pilot or one to become or in any other circumstance in sync with the aviation community are familiar with current aviation terminology to use CyNAV or any other tools we provide for the aviation community. Indeed, common mobile GPS receivers improved possibilities for more than a decade. But they always add weight, complexity and / or inflexibility, because they are heavy, bulky and dedicated. The user interface is often too complicated. If you use a stationary receiver in an aircraft, you have a big flexibility issue. Because you can not use it for flight planning on the go. Who wants to sit hours in a more or less tiny cockpit at the ramp while burning valuable and expensive fuel to enter flight plans / way points? That’s the very reason pilots often don’t plan their flights well and use just the “direct to” button. We all know, this is a very safety issue! How many pilots could fly again, if they would have used CyNAV or other tools? Instead of shortening their life.
So, why carry extra weight, gadgets and manuals around with a dedicated GPS receiver and reduce safety? When you can get it all in one aviation cellphone? It’s time for change! CyNAV fits in. It is our next generation ‘swiss knive navigation all around tool and gps receiver’ for smart pilot’s, who are up to date. CyNAV is the all in one tiny cellphone solution for the aviation community. It makes flying a lot easier and flying without can be considered as a security risk. If you would have one emergency, it could pay off for itself uncountable times to have CyNAV aboard!
CyNAV is developed by experienced pilot’s. You do not have to hassle while browsing three or four times through alphabets to select just one airport. CyNAV has a user friendly user interface with it’s virtual ‘qwerty’ keyboard and you can even use the touchscreen for navigation. We designed CyNAV with a navi screen where all important information is visible in one screen. Thus, nobody has to battle, switching screens while busy with steering, navigation or radio. Now with CyNAV it is much easier, safer and faster to enter flight plans on the go. You can use CyNAV everywhere. If in a motel room with IMC conditions, waiting for your next VFR go. Or anywhere else. You can use it for ferry flights, because you can plan and use it worldwide. Or you can use it as backup solution. For a short trip as for an intercontinental flight as well. It has a worldwide orthogonal moving 3D map inside and with CyNAV II there is now the option to switch to a map mode with FAA charts for the 48 lower states plus Hawaii and Puerto Rico. You can even use your own charts anywhere in the world. You can zoom out to see the whole world and your intercontinental way points or you can zoom in to get more details with a short sunset trip.
But this is not the end. We include in our package a solution that you can use all charts in the phone on any computer with a browser. Just to look where you fly, get position data or even print the charts out for to go. You will NOT need any Internet connection, as all solutions are off line solutions. The side effect is that you do not have additional costs.
Currently we have a ready to go edition for the Motorola A1600. The Motorola A1600 cellphone has a lot of features, which you will never get in a dedicated GPS receiver. While you can use CyNAV without any on line charges, as all the data is in the phone and it uses the phone GPS module, you can additionally use the browser to use Google Maps or whatever other street navigation software you prefer. It is delivered with a 1 GB (upgradeable to 4 GB) micro SDHC memory card and you can install whatever J2ME software fits in. The phone is still small enough and with it’s clamshell cover to fit in any pants pocket without producing scratches on the screen or extensive wear your clothes.
